A few hours before the NBA All-Star Game tips off, Philadelphia 76ers All-Stars Joel Embiid and Ben Simmons could potentially not be able to participate due to contact tracing from exposure to a likely COVID-19 positive individual before they arrived in Atlanta where the All-Star takes place, as The Athletic’s Shams Charania reports.

The two players have been in contact with a barber who has initially been considered a likely positive COVID-19 case and has been retested because of the inconclusive initial test and the results will determine the ability of Embiid and Simmons to join the big event later on Sunday.

As further reported by ESPN’s Adrian Wojnarowski, the additional test has returned positive and the league now must make a decision, yet it is highly unlikely that either will be cleared to play today.

UPDATE: Per the League’s official announcement, both Embiid and Simmons will not be able to participate in the All-Star Game.
