Philadelphia 76ers center Joel Embiid will have an MRI scan on his left knee, after he landed awkwardly during the Sixers‘ recent game against the Wizards on Friday.

The play in which Embiid was injured came in the third quarter as the center went up for a dunk and landed awkwardly, seemingly hyperextending his left knee. He left the court using his own power, though he was clearly in pain after the fall, is it can be seen in the following video:

Embiid, 26, is currently having the best season of his career with the Sixers, during which he averages 29.9 points, 11.5 rebounds across 31 games.

“I’m not going to speculate [on the severity of the injury]. Tomorrow we’ll have all the information for you. Hoping for the best. I did talk to him. He was in the locker room. He’s in pretty good spirits”, told Sixers coach Doc Rivers after the game.

As further reported by Wojnarowski later on Saturday, Embiid’s MRI showed “no structural damage, just a bone bruise” and the timeline of his return has yet to be specified.
