The ongoing saga between Ben Simmons and the Philadelphia 76ers continues on Tuesday, hours away from the tip-off of the new season.
As ESPN’s Adrian Wojnarowski reports, Sixers head coach Doc Rivers “threw Simmons out of practice” Tuesday, and a suspension by the team followed as he was not “engaged” during practice.
“Ben Simmons has been suspended for one game due to conduct detrimental to the team. As a result, Simmons will miss the 76ers’ season opener at New Orleans tomorrow night”, stated the franchise via a press release.
As Wojnarowski further reports, Simmons’ reluctance to engage during practice has been ongoing since his return to the training camp. The All-Star guard refused to participate in one stage of the practice session before being tossed by coach Rivers.
“At this point, I don’t care about that man. […] Our job is not to babysit somebody. We don’t get paid for that, that’s not our job and I’m sure my teammates feel that way”, he mentioned.
