After calling out LeBron James for his partnership with Nike and not speaking up against the Chinese government, Enes Kanter Freedom unleashed a Twitter attack against Taiwanese-American Jeremy Lin for similar reasons.
Kanter ripped Lin’s decision to return to play in China for the Beijing Ducks and accused him of being “silent” on alleged human rights violations by the Chinese government. The Boston Celtics big man told Lin that it’s “disgusting” to turn his back on his own country while Taiwan has recently expressed its fears of a growing threat by China and a potential attack.
Kanter’s tweet is as follows:
“Shane on you Jeremy Lin. Haven’t you had enough of that Dirty Chinese Communist Party money feeding you to stay silent? How disgusting of you to turn your back against your country & your people. Stand with Taiwan! Stop bowing to money & the Dictatorship. Morals over Money brother.”
Lin was born in California, U.S.A. to Taiwanese parents. He obtained a Taiwanese passport in August 2020.
Kanter recently became a U.S. citizen and changed his surname to “Freedom” while using “Kanter” as his new middle name. He has been particularly critical over China and the Uyghur genocide.
