Ben Simmons had requested to be traded from the Philadelphia 76ers months ago and he may get his wish soon.

ESPN reports that the Sixers have recently been increasingly aggressive in their conversations regarding a Ben Simmons trade with talks being held “on multiple fronts” and with several clubs.

In order to give Simmons, the Sixers want to strike a deal that will get them back a “top 25-level player,” among other assets. There may be developments next week and after Wednesday when the NBA players that are eligible for a trade increase from 65 percent of league participants to 84 percent.

There’s one player who the Sixers won’t be getting for Simmons and that’s Portland Trail Blazers superstar Damian Lillard. The player said that he wants to stay with the Blazers but and his club has ruled out a potential trade since they want to build the team around the six-time All-Star guard.

If the Sixers manage to make the trade happen, then Simmons will leave the team after five seasons since Philadelphia selected him with the 1st overall pick in 2016. The 25-year-old Australian guard/forward expressed his desire to be moved from the franchise at the end of the previous season and following the elimination of the Sixers to the Atlanta Hawks in the Eastern Conference semifinals and hasn’t played a single game in this campaign.
