Connaughton will reportedly return before the end of the regular season

Milwaukee Bucks guard Pat Connaughton will undergo surgery for a hand fracture which he suffered on his right hand Thursday and will likely return before the end of the regular season, ESPN’s Adrian Wojnarowski reports.

That’s why the Bucks are expected to aggressively pursue Goran Dragic on the buyout market. The Spurs acquired Dragic at last week’s trade deadline, but the two sides are near a buyout and there’s strong interest from many contenders for the “Dragon”

Connaughton sustained said injury during Bucks’ contest against the Phoenix Suns last Thursday and his absence is a huge blow for the defending champs, who have just traded guards Donte DiVincenzo and Rodney Hood in a four-team trade this week.

Connaughton, 29, is averaging career-highs this season both in scoring, with 10.2 points per contest, and three-point shooting (41%) across 27.2 minutes on the court.

The Bucks are currently placed fourth in the Eastern Conference with a 35-22 overall record, a tie with the Cleveland Cavaliers and they face the Portland Trail Blazers at home Monday.
