New York Knicks guard Kemba Walker won’t play any other game this season. According to ESPN’s Adrian Wojnarowski, the organization and the player have reached an agreement that will keep him away from the team for the rest of 2021-22.

The Knicks confirmed ESPN’s report via a statement by president Leon Rose. “We fully support Kemba’s decision to shut it down for the remainder of the season and to use this time to prepare for next season. His long-term success on the court remains our priority,” said Rose.

Walker, 31, will be focusing on preparing for the next season, which will most likely find him on a different club.

This arrangement ends the saga that began when Knicks coach Tom Thibodeau removed Walker from the team’s active rotation back in November. “I do what I think is best for the team,” Thibs had said back then.

Walker rejoined the roster after 10 games and had some strong performances, including a first-ever Christmas Day triple-double in a win over the Atlanta Hawks. He missed multiple games in January due to soreness in his left knee.

Over 37 games with the Knicks, Walker averaged 11.6 points, 3.5 assists and 3.0 rebounds in 25.6 minutes.
