Phoenix Suns star guard Devin Booker has entered NBA’s health and protocols for COVID-19, the team said. He will definitely be out vs. the Portland Trail Blazers Wednesday (2/3).

Booker’s absence leaves the Suns without their leading scorer and minus their two most prominent players overall since veteran Chris Paul is down with a thumb fracture that can sideline him for the rest of the regular season. The Suns will be missing the bulk of their firepower and it’s up to coach Monty Williams to find solutions from the bench and players like Deandre Ayton or Mikal Bridges to assume a bigger role and carry a heavier load on offense.

Phoenix is currently at first place in the Western Conference standings with a 49 – 13 record while Golden State Warriors are in pursuit at 43 – 19.

So far in the 2021-22 season, Booker has been averaging 25.6 points, 5.2 rebounds and 4.6 assists. He was named an All-Star for a third straight year.
