The Denver Nuggets are signing head coach Mike Malone to a multiyear contract extension. According to ESPN’s Adrian Wojnarowski, the two sides have agreed to the deal and are extending their partnership beyond the 2022-23 season.

This is the second extension Malone signs with the Nuggets. He had previously renewed his contract in December 2019.

Malone joined the Nuggets in 2015. Over his seven years so far at the helm, the team made the playoffs for three consecutive seasons (2019, 2020, 2021) while reaching the Western Conference Finals in 2020.

A few days after Malone was hired by the Nuggets, the club picked Nikola Jokic with the 41st overall pick to complete one of the biggest steals in Draft history. The Serbian big man emerged as a superstar and an MVP under Malone and is en route to possibly winning for a second straight season.
