Joel Embiid has been dominant in the first round of the NBA playoffs but he might suffer a major setback. According to Shams Charania, there is fear among the Sixers that their star has suffered a torn ligament in the right thumb.
Whatever the outcome of the injury, Embiid has vowed to continue playing through the injury. He will rely on his pain tolerance and the 76ers’ medical staff.
Embiid scored 19, 31 and 33 points in the three games against the Toronto Raptors including some crunch-time heroics in the last clash that put Philadelphia up 3-0 in the series.
He also grabbed 15, 11, and 13 rebounds respectively for straight double-doubles while also providing a strong defensive presence.
