While he was non-committal about Vezenkov coming over for the 2022-23 season, McNair sounded like the Kings were hopeful he would and they are excited about his fit into the team.
“Wanting to add shooting was a big priority and going to one of the best shooters, who’s got great positional size in one of the best leagues in the world who’s already producing, that made it easy for us,” McNair said during a media availability.
“I think Sasha’s a guy we see fitting with us. We all know how important that is in the league. We’re excited about the fit, and we will talk further and see what will happen. We know that he can play at the high level and that excites us”.
Vezenkov, 26, finished the best season of his career so far, averaging 13.7 points, 5.9 rebounds and 1.5 assists in EuroLeague to help Olympiacos reach the Final Four for the first time since 2017 and win the domestic title with a 3-0 sweep over archrivals Panathinaikos. His averages in the Greek League Finals went up to 18.6 points (10-15 from the three-point line), 6.6 rebounds, and 2.6 assists.
