Minnesota Timberwolves star Anthony Edwards issued an apology on Twitter after posting a now-deleted video on his Instagram that included homophobic slurs.

“What I said was immature, hurtful, and disrespectful, and I’m incredibly sorry,” wrote Edwards. “It’s unacceptable for me or anyone to use that language in such a hurtful way, there’s no excuse for it, at all. I was raised better than that!”

Edwards had uploaded a video as a part of an Instagram story, in which he’s heard saying: “Look at these queer as– ni–ers man. Look what the world done came to bruh” while filming a group of men. “Dese niccas different,” was the caption he used while adding some emojis. A woman is heard laughing next to him.

“We are disappointed in the language and actions Anthony Edwards displayed on social media,” Timberwolves president Tim Connelly said in a statement. “The Timberwolves are committed to being an inclusive and welcoming organization for all and apologize for the offense this has caused to so many.”

The NBA has yet to officially react but the league is expected to take action. Previously, Denver Nuggets superstar Nikola Jokic had been fined by the NBA for saying “No homo,” during a post-game presser.
