Projected No. 1 pick Victor Wembanyama is extremely talented, really unique as a player and simply rare even for a generational talent.

He also doesn’t lack confidence as was evident also by a statement he made regarding the 2023 NBA Draft. When asked about guard Scoot Henderson, the other contender to be selected first overall, Wembanyama said: “He’s really a great player. If I was never born, I think he would deserve the first spot,” per AP’s Tim Reynolds.

Wembanyama is currently in Las Vegas where his club Levallois-Metropolitans will play two exhibition games against Henderson’s G-League Ignite. The first match will be held Tuesday (4/10) and the other Thursday (6/10). “Out of all the prospects I’ve heard about in our class, I think he’s my favorite one,” Wembanyama said on Henderson. “I think he’s the most reliable that I’ve seen.”

NBA executives and scouts who have been monitoring Wembanyama’s game have watched him play in EuroLeague, the French Jeep Elite League and the international tournaments with the French national team. Now, around 200 scouts are expected to attend these upcoming games, where Wembanyama will compete in new circumstances for him.

“We’re playing against an NBA team, with NBA rules, on an NBA court,” Wembanyama said. “This is really going to be a first for me. I’m curious to know how it’s going to go. I know it’s going to go well, but I’m still curious.”
