Slovenian superstar Luka Doncic struggled during the first half against New York Knicks but bounced back in the second half and led Dallas Mavericks to a 121-100 win in Madison Square Garden with 30 points, eight rebounds, seven assists, and three blocks.
Another fantastic performance from the former Real Madrid player, but after the game, reporters were wondering, what can Dallas do to keep him fresh for the playoffs since he gives a big effort every night?
“I’ll put him in a freezer. I think we bought one for the airplane; We’ll see if he can fit in it,” the Dallas Mavericks head coach, Jason Kidd, joked after the game.
He assured me that Dallas would do everything possible to keep him healthy.
“Luka is special. He loves to compete, is honest, and will tell you if he’s tired. He’s taken care of his body and wants to win and help this team. It’s just something that we as a staff and organization have to keep an eye on. To make sure he is ready as the marathon continues to go“, Kidd added.
Jason Kidd compared his star player to the greats like Lebron James and Kobe Bryant.
“His 1 of 1. He has a lot in the sense of like Lebron. He’ll tell you that he can jump like Lebron, too”, Kidd said with a smile. “With his IQ, he competes and wants to win, which makes him special. You can look at Lebron, and Kobe, the greats that will lead their team to victory and never complain, and that’s what we all love about Luka. He goes out there, tries to find a way to help his team win“.
