Furkan Korkmaz’s got his role in the Philadelphia 76ers rotation diminished, and the rumors are swirling about his potential departure.
Last season, it was mentioned that he could be moved before the trade deadline. Still, the Turkish national team player stayed for another year, despite rumors emerging again throughout the summer.
The same thing is happening again, as Philadelphia Inquirer states that the Sixers are reportedly looking to move either Korkmaz or Jaden Springer before February 9 deadline.
He’s aware of his uncertain future with the franchise that drafted him with the 26th overall pick in 2016, but he is not letting that affect him.
“I just let those guys handle it — my agent, my organization-wise. Right now, I don’t think it’s going to make a lot of sense for me to say anything about it because it’s not in my hands at some point,” Korkmaz said.
The most important thing for him is to play.
“For me, the best thing that I can say is I want to be happy, you know? I want to be on the court. And whatever they think is working with the team, that’s fine with me“.
The 25-year-old has played in only 23 games this season and produced the lowest averages – four points and 10,9 minutes per game – since his rookie season. Korkmaz is behind Tyrese Maxey, De’Anthony Melton, Shake Milton, Matisse Thybulle, and Danuel House Jr. in the Sixers’ rotation.
The Turkish national team player is in the second year of the three-year, 15.000.000 dollars contract and is in line to make 5.370.000 next season.
