Looking for reinforcements, the Miami Heat emerge as potential suitors for Kevin Love

In a decreasing role with the Cleveland Cavaliers opting for other players, Kevin Love is forced to seek opportunities elsewhere in the NBA

Love, 34, is expected to reach a buyout agreement and become an unrestricted free agent, per The Athletic. The next destination might be the Miami Heat, as reported.

The Heat have one open spot on the roster and have been looking into securing the services of an additional big moving into the bottom end of the 2022-23 NBA Regular Season. The experienced forward/center certainly fits the bill, confirmed by the reported interest.

Erik Spoelstra’s side currently sits seventh in the Eastern Conference table, half a game behind the final seed corresponding to a direct berth in the Playoffs, instead of a second chance in the Play-Ins.

At 38-23, the Cavaliers are fourth in the Eastern Conference standings. But Love has fallen out of the rotation. His 2022-23 efforts amount to 41 games played with 8.5 points, 6.8 rebounds, 1.9 assists, 0.2 blocks, and 0.2 steals per contest.

Back in 2014, the California-born big was traded from the Minnesota Timberwolves to the Cavs to team up with LeBron James. The last remaining player of the championship team going all the way in the 2016 Playoffs, it seems like his time is up as well.

Coming out of UCLA as the fifth overall pick in the 2008 NBA draft, Love got three All-Star Game nods with the Wolves and earned two more in Cleveland. However, injuries slowed him down in recent years.
