Some hours before turning 29, Joel Embiid played a monstrous game on the road against the Cleveland Cavaliers to secure the Philadelphia 76ers‘ 118-109 win.
The Camerun native center, who got French citizenship in 2022, had 36 points, 18 rebounds, 3 assists, and 4 blocks in 38 minutes spent on the court, shooting 12/19 from the field and being perfect at the line (10/10). The Joel Embiid-James Harden-Tyrese Maxey trio combined for 87 points.
Also, the 29-year-old center played the final minutes of the game after the call on his 6th foul was overturned. “I never extended my arm. Right before the hit, you could see he was already starting to flop. I watch basketball every day and I was pretty confident they would call it the other way”, he said after the win.
Dragging the Philadelphia 76ers to the 3rd place in the Eastern Conference with a 46-22 record, Joel Embiid is leading the league with 33.4 points scored per game, while also averaging 10.0 rebounds and 4.1 assists.
