In the upcoming season, Darko Rajakovic will lead the Toronto Raptors in the NBA as the head coach.
Born in Cacak, after Igor Kokoskov, he is the second Serbian basketball expert, who will lead the team from NBA league as head coach.
“Since the beginning of my coaching career, I have always been very ambitious, but at the same time I knew that a coaching career is not a 100-meter race, but a long marathon. I have only just run half a marathon, I still have a long way to go. I am currently in my 27th year of coaching. of work and I hope that I will stay in coaching for as long as possible. I’m enjoying it and it’s nice,” said Rajakovic in an interview for Sportski zurnal.
Rajaković has been working in the USA since 2012 when he was an assistant in Tulsa, and after Phoenix and Oklahoma he worked in Memphis under coach Taylor Jenkins and now he will lead Toronto independently.
“I couldn’t imagine it, because at that time there were no such examples, so it didn’t seem like something possible, but things have changed over the years. Basketball has become a global sport, so after 27 years from the beginning of coaching, I got the opportunity to work as a coach in the Toronto Raptors,” said Rajakovic.
