Released from the hospital, the Philadelphia 76ers are tending to Kelly Oubre Jr.’s injuries

Kelly Oubre Jr. of the Philadelphia 76ers went to a hospital on Saturday, after being struck by a vehicle in the Center City area of Philadelphia.

Per the press release: “Kelly Oubre Jr. was a pedestrian struck by a motor vehicle tonight in Center City, Philadelphia. He is currently in stable condition and being treated at a local hospital.

We will share more information as it becomes available. Please join us in sending our best to Kelly and his family as he recovers from the incident.”

He has been released from hospital care, as noted by ESPN’s Adrian Wojnarowski. Treatment will continue under the supervision of the Sixers’ medical staff. He is expected to sit out multiple games but possibly return to action this season, depending on his recovery.

Oubre, 27, was walking near his residence when struck. Multiple team officials, including president of basketball operations Daryl Morey, were at the hospital to support him.

Navigating his first campaign with the 76ers and contributing to the 7-1 start, Oubre averaged 16.3 points, 5.1 rebounds, 1.4 steals, and 0.6 assists over eight appearances, including five starts in the 2023-24 NBA Regular Season. He joined the organization during the offseason, reportedly inking a one-year contract.

The Kansas product was selected with the 15th overall pick of the 2015 draft by the Atlanta Hawks. Logging 553 games played, including 18 in the Playoffs, describes stints from the Washington Wizards, Phoenix Suns, Golden State Warriors, and Charlotte Hornets to the 76ers.
