The Denver Nuggets getting back on track in the 2023-24 NBA Regular Season featured Nikola Jokic and Victor Wembanyama facing each other on NBA Sundays.

The Serbian star drew up a season-high 39 points, paving the way for the Nuggets in the win against the San Antonio Spurs in Ball Arena and pushing his side to 11-6. Facing Wembanyama for the first time, he praised the European upstart and discussed his destiny.

“He is playing hard. He does not take it for granted. He is making mistakes which is normal. I think the media being around him does not help him, but he is going to get used to it. Because, the guy is 19 years old,” mentioned Jokic, “He is going to change the game, 100%.”

Wembanyama, 19, posted a 22-point, 11-rebound double-double in the losing effort. The French prodigy packed in six steals and four blocks, besides two assists. However, the team coached by Gregg Popovich was on the wrong end of the result for the 12th outing in a row and forced to 3-14.

“I think I learned a lot. I learned even more when I watched film. I think it is a good experience, but it would have been even better if we had won,” reacted Wemby.

“I can see why they won it,” he referred to the Nuggets being crowned NBA champions in 2023, “A very balanced team. It feels like they know each other very well.”
