Since when Victor Wembanyama was drafted with the No. 1 overall pick by the San Antonio Spurs, the French phenomenon must have felt a connection with Jeremy Sochan. In the 16-point home win (116-100) over Portland, they displayed it perfectly.
The Polish all-around player had a double-double of 31 points (12/20 FG, 3/3 FT) and 14 rebounds, going very close to his career-high in scoring. “At times, I sometimes go up and maybe sometimes I forget how athletic I can be. Sometimes I get a little weak and I get pushed around. The emphasis recently is just to go in strong and finish the two”, he commented after the win.
Victor Wembanyama followed him with another double-double of 23 points (7/18 FG, 6/6 FT) and 12 rebounds, while also adding 4 assists, 2 steals, and 2 blocks. “When he is playing like that, he is just a great player in every aspect of the game, so it makes me happy to see that”, San Antonio’s superstar said.
