Preparing to stretch his career into the NBA All-Star weekend, Victor Wembanyama talked about Kylian Mbappe departing Paris Saint-Germain at the end of the 2023-24 season.

“It would be difficult to keep him in Paris longer,” the 20-year-old star commented on his French compatriot.

Mbappe, 25, met the future NBA star before the 2023 NBA Draft Lottery. Last summer, in a star-studded crowd gathering to watch the San Antonio Spurs securing the opportunity to select Wemby with the top pick of the draft.

“I wish him all the luck in the world and to win as many Champions League titles as he can,” he added on the explosive forward, who is expected to be landed by Real Madrid.

“In any case, he will still play with the French national team and could win many World Cups,” noted Wembanyama.

Looking to represent France in his own right and aiming to play in the 2024 Olympic Games, potential success would fall shy of his initial target. “When I was a kid, one of my goals was to make the 2016 Olympics with the national team,” he revealed, “Unfortunately, I’m a little bit late for this, but I already had high expectations.”

Competing in the three-team Panini Rising Stars working as a preview for future appearances in the NBA All-Star Game stands as the immediate plan. “I’m looking forward to playing in the game, two games hopefully. Next year hopefully the big game,” he confirmed.
