Victor Wembanyama continues to write history on and off the court in his rookie season in the NBA, imposing himself as a recognized and recognizable global icon already in his first months with the San Antonio Spurs.
The British account of the NBA has shared officially a record-breaking achievement. “[San Antonio] Spurs rookie Victor Wembanyama has officially surpassed one billion video views across NBA social media platforms since the start of the season”, the statement first said.
Coming to the NBA in the summer of 2023 by being selected with the 1st pick in the Draft by Gregg Popovich’s team, Victor Wembanyama has rapidly captured everybody’s attention in the league despite turning 20 years of age only at the beginning of 2024.
The former Boulogne-Levallois Metropolitans 92 and ASVEL player is trailing only two legends of the game LeBron James (1.3 billion) and Steph Curry (1.2 billion) in views received over his highlights since the start of the 2023-24 season. “Wemby’s dunk against the Celtics on Dec. 31 is the most-viewed ever across NBA social media platforms with 153M video views”, the statement continued.
