Being around the best players in the world since 2011, Jimmy Butler still has some years in his tank playing in the NBA. However, he doesn’t want to conclude his professional career in his home country.

Talking with GQ Sports during the Formula 1 Grand Prix in Miami, the 35-year-old star revealed a dream of his. “I really do want to play for Flamengo. I tell everybody, I’m half-Brazilian”, he said recalling past experiences alongside his dear friend Neymar.

Adding that Miami will “for sure” be his last team in the NBA, he praised it. “I feel at home. I really care about the city and the people in this city. Miami has embraced me. They’ve wanted me to bring them something they haven’t done since LeBron, D-Wade, and C-Bosh. And I want to do that”, he said.

During the Olympic Games in Rio 2016, Jimmy Butler and the rest of USA Basketball were seen training in Flamengo’s facilities. The South American powerhouse, which also has a pretty successful football side, has won the 2021 BCL Americas, while also capturing two Intercontinental Cups (2014 and 2022).

The red-and-black Brazilian club has seen quite some special talents grow up there in Rio de Janeiro before moving elsewhere, like the legend Oscar Schmidt, Nicolas Laprovittola, Anderson Varejao, Leandro Barbosa, or Yago dos Santos.
