Experienced point guard Dennis Schroder opened up about starting his journey with the Detroit Pistons.

Prevailing over recent adversity surrounding his career and focusing on the next challenge, the 31-year-old German talked about his ninth team in the NBA, also the third in the 2024-25 Regular Season. He shared a kind reception from the organization and his determination to succeed, heading to his second game as a Piston.

“They showed a lot of love, reached out right away. The love I’ve been getting since I’ve been here has been great. Teammates are doing a great job of helping me get into their system early. Coaches, front office, doing a great job of making me adjust pretty quickly,” he described adjusting in Motor City, per the Detroit Free Press, “Couple of days and then the family’s here, we get our housing and should be good.”

Coming off the bench for the team coached by J. B. Bickerstaff, he tallied 4.5 points and 3.5 assists per contest over two winning efforts with his new team.

“It’s great,” he continued, “It’s my 12th season. I think I consider myself a veteran now. 31-years-old. I can bring a lot to this team, making sure the young guys are doing the right things and not the wrong things and worry about the right things as well to make the team better. That’s what it’s all about and that’s the reason why I’m here 12 years, and I want to show those guys and try to lead by example every single day, but then on the court playing the right way is the reason they got me.”

At 28-26, the Pistons rank sixth in the Eastern Conference standings, at the lowest seed leading directly to the Playoffs. Wrapping up the schedule before the All-Star break, they will complete a back-to-back against the Chicago Bulls in the United Center on Wednesday.
