Despite continuing to struggle in three-point shots since the beginning of this first-round series against the reigning champions, Franz Wagner took off in Game 3, getting his revenge.
With Orlando down 2-0 and the series moving to their place, the Magic found the extra resources and energy to get back in contention, winning 95-93 and possibly tying at 2-2 in Game 4.
As said, the German wing was the protagonist of a brilliant 32-point night, shooting 11/27 from the field, including 3/13 from the arc – he combined 2/13 in the first two games of the series. The 2023 World Champion also grabbed 7 rebounds and dished out 8 assists.
“We didn’t start the game very well, but in the second half, we raised the intensity. [I tried to] play my game and be aggressive. [I tried] to make plays for others as well,” he commented.
Alongside Paolo Banchero, the two superstars combined for 61 points – the American forward with Italian roots had 29 points and 6 rebounds in Orlando’s victory.
Jayson Tatum led the way for Boston with 36 points, 9 rebounds, and 4 assists, while Kristaps Porzingis failed to make an impact – he ended with just 7 points and 6 rebounds over 3/10 from the field.
