The Orlando Magic fired Jamahl Mosley the day after being eliminated from the NBA Playoffs following their Game 7 loss to Detroit in the first round of the Eastern Conference.
According to Shams Charania, the Florida franchise has ended Mosley’s tenure as head coach. Amid rumors of his departure, Orlando appears to be entering a new phase of the project.
The Magic (8) took a 3-1 lead against the Eastern Conference’s top seed, the Pistons. Franz Wagner’s injury hampered their chances of advancing, and they ultimately suffered three consecutive losses (4-3), eliminating them from playoff contention.
In July 2021, Mosley was named head coach of the Orlando Magic. He signed a four-year extension through 2024 with the team led by Paolo Banchero, Franz Wagner, and others, but following the season’s results, the Magic decided to part ways with him.
He leaves the Magic with a record of 189 wins and 221 losses out of 410 games played, reaching the playoffs in the last three seasons.
