Darko Rajaković will remain the head coach of the Toronto Raptors after agreeing to a multi-year contract extension, the franchise announced on Thursday.
Rajaković, who took over the Raptors ahead of the 2023/24 season, guided Toronto to a 46-36 record last season and its first playoff appearance under his leadership, before the team was eliminated by the Cleveland Cavaliers in a seven-game first-round series.
“We’re thrilled to extend Darko as head coach of the Toronto Raptors. Darko’s strong development philosophy and commitment to a team-first culture shine through on a daily basis,” said general manager Bobby Webster.
Rajaković also expressed his excitement about continuing the project in Toronto.
“I’m proud of the progress we’ve made, but our team knows there is still a lot of work to do. I’m looking forward to continuing to build and win with the Raptors as we pursue our goal of an NBA championship,” the Serbian coach said.
The 47-year-old owns a 101-145 regular-season record with Toronto and will now continue leading the Raptors as the franchise looks to establish itself among the Eastern Conference contenders.
