Victor Wembanyama has all but confirmed his commitment to the San Antonio Spurs, posting a simple but powerful message to the team’s fans on social media.
“Spurs family… I’m here to stay. Whatever it takes,” Wemby wrote on x.com
The statement comes as the 22-year-old Frenchman becomes eligible to sign a five-year maximum contract extension reportedly worth up to $251 million, with incentives that could push the total value beyond $300 million.
Wembanyama is coming off another spectacular season, averaging 25.0 points, 11.5 rebounds and an NBA-best 3.1 blocks per game while leading the Spurs to the NBA Finals, where they fell to the New York Knicks.
He was also unanimously voted the NBA Defensive Player of the Year.
