DeMar DeRozan is set to join Nikola Jokić and the Denver Nuggets after agreeing to a one-year, $3.9 million deal, ESPN’s Shams Charania reported.
The 37-year-old chose Denver over interest from the Miami Heat, Washington Wizards and New Orleans Pelicans. Nuggets executives and coaches reportedly outlined how he could complement Jokić and Jamal Murray as an additional scorer and playmaker.
DeRozan became a free agent after the Sacramento Kings waived him to reduce payroll. He averaged 18.4 points on nearly 50 percent shooting last season and appeared in 77 games.
A six-time All-Star, DeRozan spent nine seasons with the Toronto Raptors before playing for the San Antonio Spurs, Chicago Bulls and Kings.
