The Sioux Falls Skyforce, Miami Heat’s G League affiliate, announced their coaching staff for the upcoming 2026–27 campaign on Sunday. Working under head coach Mario Casamajor, the new group of assistants features Remy NDiaye, Nate Wilson, Darius Johnson-Odom, and a prominent face from South Florida’s championship past, Norris Cole.
Cole’s arrival was the major talking point. The 37-year-old guard started his NBA journey by playing over three seasons in Miami, where he helped the franchise secure back-to-back titles in 2012 and 2013. He ultimately clocked 428 games in the league before shifting his focus to Europe.
His overseas career was extensive. The Cleveland State product became a fixture in European arenas, testing himself across 73 Turkish Airlines EuroLeague games and appearing in both the Basketball Champions League and the 7DAYS EuroCup. He collected several domestic trophies during this journey. After retiring at the end of the 2024–25 season, he initially explored coaching last winter. Joining the Skyforce brings him back to the organization where his professional career began.
The staff also leans heavily on additional international experience through 37-year-old Darius Johnson-Odom. The fellow NBA veteran guard, who made 12 EuroLeague, 32 EuroCup, and ten BCL appearances, is stepping into coaching for the first time.
While these EuroLeague alumni develop talent in the minor league, the main roster is built for an immediate title run heading into the 2026–27 NBA Regular Season. Under Erik Spoelstra, the Heat are now led by Greek superstar Giannis Antetokounmpo.
