The President of the USA traditionally invites NBA champions to visit the White House, but things have changed a bit since Donald Trump returned.
Trump was reelected in 2024, but still, no team has visited him – Oklahoma City Thunder did not come, while the Boston Celtics visited the White House while Joe Biden was still in office. However, that might change now.
The President of the USA is close with Knicks owner James Dolan, which was evident during Game 3 of the NBA Finals, when Trump was a guest at Madison Square Garden. Knicks coach Mike Brown also spoke about the potential visit to the president.
“It’s still something that our guys, or the organization, is internally discussing and, you know, whatever we decide to do, we’ll all do together,” Brown said.
Typically, the NBA league champion visits the White House during their away games against the Washington Wizards, which for New York this season is scheduled for December 18 and March 16.
