Just days after the EuroLeague shareholders’ meeting in Como, Italy, the NBA will present its own “live update” on its European plans.
NBA Europe managing director George Aivazoglou will be part of the “NBA Europe: A ‘now and forever’ bet on global expansion” panel, which will be held on Thursday, 8th of October in London during the “Leaders Week” summit.
According to the announcement, the panel will provide “a live update on the NBA’s industry-shifting plans to launch a new league in Europe in 2027 in the hours after momentous discussions at EuroLeague”, “the investment case for franchisees: where is the value, how will it be built, grown and realized” and also an inside look at the league’s plan for “one of the largest marketing campaigns of any consumer brand, period.”
Aivazoglou will be accompanied by Brandon Snow, the operating partner and CCO of RedBird Capital, and Hannah Brown, the Brentford FC director of growth strategy.
Of course, the timing is more than interesting, since EuroLeague is expected to make its own announcement about the future two days earlier, after the Como meeting.
On the same day, on the 6th of October, Aivazoglou will also be part of the panel at the “Sportico Invest London” event in the discussion called “NBA Europe: Building Basketball’s Next Global Asset”.
Together with Eric Menell from J.P. Morgan, Josh Empson from Sixth Street, and Scott Soshnick from Sportico, Aivazoglou will have “a forward-looking discussion on the opportunity for NBA basketball in Europe — from building the league and team ecosystem to attracting institutional capital and creating long-term franchise value”.
