A left hip impingement stalls 23-year-old Tristan Vukcevic ahead of the 2026–27 NBA Regular Season

The Washington Wizards have announced that Tristan Vukcevic has sustained a left hip impingement.

According to Thursday’s official update, the Serbian-Greek forward/center will remain a partial participant in training camp to continue his rehabilitation. However, with a reevaluation scheduled in about four weeks, the timeline rules him out for the entire preseason schedule and the start of the 2026–27 NBA Regular Season. It is a tough break for the seven-footer, a member of the senior national team of Serbia.

After developing his game within the demanding systems of EuroLeague’s Real Madrid and Partizan Mozzart Bet, logging 37 appearances in Europe’s premier club competition, he successfully transitioned to the NBA. He originally debuted for Washington late in the 2023–24 season, a few months after being drafted with the 42nd overall pick. Thanks to his modern floor-stretching ability and outside shooting, the Wizards upgraded him to a standard three-year, $9 million contract. He is locked in for a guaranteed $3,000,000 this year, with a team option worth another $3,000,000 for the 2027–28 season.

The 23-year-old forward-center is coming off a solid campaign. He carved out a distinct role in 49 appearances, entering the starting lineup 12 times. He provided reliable production averaging 9.0 points, 3.0 rebounds, and 1.1 assists while shooting 34.7% from beyond the arc.

Once healthy, the young European faces a steep battle for minutes. Washington bolstered its frontcourt depth, meaning he will slot further down the rotation behind core players Alex Sarr, Anthony Davis, and Deandre Ayton.
