James Harden would love to take his talents overseas someday. Speaking during preseason training camp in Malaga, the veteran guard openly shared his affection for the country.
“I would love to,” said 37-year-old Harden on Wednesday, answering a question about whether he would consider playing in Europe or Spain. “Spain is one of the most beautiful places in the world. Fortunately, I’ve been here. I’ve been to Barcelona, to Madrid. And those places are amazing as well. Every time I come here, the experience is how it should be. Love it here.”
His appreciation mirrors the current status of the Cleveland Cavaliers. The team coached by Kenny Atkinson is holding its six-day camp at The Embassy in Andalusia through Monday. Located in Fuengirola, the high-performance training center was built by former Spanish national team standouts Berni Rodriguez and Jose Calderon.
Furthermore, the former NBA Most Valuable Player in 2018 noted that he approaches every year with championship intentions. The 2026–27 journey marks Harden’s 18th year in the league. Right now, this trip serves as a way to integrate new additions Mario Hezonja and Peyton Watson into the group.
The roster is building chemistry before flying back home to Ohio, where they open their preseason schedule against the Boston Celtics at Rocket Arena. Two more remaining tests against the Orlando Magic in Cleveland and Kia Center lead into the Regular Season, which begins on October 22 when they face the Philadelphia 76ers at Xfinity Mobile Arena.
