The Dallas Mavericks made a quick roster shuffle on Thursday, waiving forward Jorge Diaz Graham only to sign his identical twin brother, Guillermo, about five hours later.
This fast move was mostly a formal roster trick rather than a true split. They simply swapped one brother for the other, and Guillermo will likely be let go soon too. Both twins are on track to play together for the Texas Legends, the G League affiliate of the Mavs, where they are expected to spend the upcoming 2026–27 season.
The Spanish twins first teamed up for Dallas during the Summer League. Before that, they spent three years playing together in the NCAA at Pittsburgh before separating for their final season, when Jorge went to Oregon State and Guillermo went to San Francisco. Their paths crossed again in the G League International Draft, where the Legends picked Jorge first overall and Guillermo third.
In his recent brief run with the main Mavericks team, Jorge put up five points and three rebounds in 12 minutes during Wednesday’s game against New Orleans before being waived to clear a spot for Guillermo.
These moves added to a very international roster. The Mavericks currently have more European players than any other team in the league. Greek John Poulakidas, Spanish Sergio de Larrea, British Tobi Lawal, Spanish Santi Aldama, Turkish Tarik Biberovic, and French Zaccharie Risacher.
As the front office finalizes the regular-season lineup, the team coached by Dusty May is getting ready to host the Atlanta Hawks on Friday to finish the exhibition slate. After that, they start the Regular Season next Wednesday on the road against the Houston Rockets.
