The New York Knicks waived Bruce Brown and retained James Wiseman as they finalized their roster ahead of the regular season, according to ESPN.
Brown had competed for a roster spot on a non-guaranteed deal, while Wiseman appeared in all four preseason games. The center strengthened his case with 18 points and 10 rebounds against the Toronto Raptors.
According to ESPN’s Bobby Marks, keeping both players was possible, but difficult with New York only $3.2 million below its hard cap at the second apron.
Wiseman joined Karl-Anthony Towns and Andre Drummond in the defending champions’ center rotation after Mitchell Robinson left for Boston in free agency.
