The Orlando Magic are dealing with several injuries as they prepare to begin the 2026–27 NBA Regular Season.
They are still assessing German Franz Wagner’s right shoulder.
“He’s still being evaluated, but he got some light work,” noted head coach Sean Sweeney after team practice on Sunday. “We’ll just keep working on what’s next.”
Conversely, French Noah Penda faces a stretch on the sidelines after partially tearing his right hamstring. The tear impacts a different area than the strain he battled during Preseason 2026.
The 21-year-old wing described the moment as feeling ‘like a big cramp in the whole back of my leg’. Regarding his recovery timeline, he wants to avoid recurring issues early in his career. “I have no idea,” he calmly replied to a question about his projected recovery timeline. “I leave that to the training staff.”
Meanwhile, 42-year-old Sweeney expressed faith in Penda’s mindset during this rehabilitation process. “Just told him keep being yourself. The way he works each day is admirable, and that doesn’t change. And regardless of what way, or shape, or form, you’re part of the team, and you got to contribute as best you can,” he pointed out.
Beyond these health updates, Orlando features a heavily populated European roster. Their lineup stretches to Georgian Goga Bitadze, German Tristan da Silva, and Montenegrin Nikola Vucevic.
The Magic will test this group immediately. They host the Atlanta Hawks at the Kia Center on Wednesday to tip off the Regular Season.
