The Detroit Pistons secured a victory in the first game of the new NBA season by defeating the Boston Celtics 121-113 on their home court.

It was an exciting match in Detroit that opened the new season. Although they trailed for most of the game, at one point Boston even had a 72-50 lead, the home team ultimately clinched their first win.

A pivotal 23-0 run in the fourth quarter turned a ten-point deficit into a 13-point lead (112-99) for the hosts. Duncan Robinson hit two three-pointers, followed by three free throws, and then Jalen Green, and again Robinson, hit new three-pointers, giving Detroit a significant advantage.

Boston managed to add some drama towards the end, but the Pistons excelled in the free-throw conclusion and secured their first triumph, overshadowing Paul George’s impressive debut for the Boston Celtics.

George scored 38 points, demonstrating that the Celtics can rely on him seriously. Payton Pritchard scored 17, as did Derrick White, while Jayson Tatum recorded 13 points and 11 assists.

For the winning team, Cade Cunningham and Jalen Duren each scored 22 points, Duncan Robinson added one less, Jalen Green scored 19, and Ausar Thompson had 11 points and 11 rebounds.

The Pistons now face a matchup against the Miami Heat in Florida, while the Celtics will host the NBA champions, the New York Knicks.
