John Poulakidas has officially transitioned to the next chapter of his career, joining the 2026–27 training camp roster for the San Diego Clippers in the G League.
The 1.98-meter–6’6″ guard, known for his movement shooting and high basketball IQ, was registered to the Los Angeles Clippers affiliate with an immediate chance to earn his way back onto an NBA floor. Following the Preseason, official games launch the new G League season in early November.
This decision was confirmed on Monday. It follows his release from the Dallas Mavericks during final preseason cuts ahead of the Regular Season. He left a strong impression, averaging nearly 8.8 points and shooting 40.3% from beyond the arc over 13 appearances in the 2025–26 campaign.
The squad is set. The work starts now. 🏀🔥

While the Illinois native remains focused on performing in California, his camp is exploring avenues across the Atlantic. The former Yale standout is actively pursuing a Greek passport to formalize his dual citizenship. This document is a major piece of the puzzle. Securing it would grant him domestic status in the Greece’s Stoiximan GBL, meaning local teams wouldn’t have to use a restricted foreign import slot to sign him.
His citizenship push has caught the attention of major clubs, sparking serious interest from EuroLeague powerhouses Olympiacos and Panathinaikos Aktor. Both organizations have monitored him closely.
Whether Poulakidas turns this training camp run into another NBA contract or chooses to take his floor-spacing abilities elsewhere, his established efficiency keeps him in high demand globally.
