Stephen Curry had just scored 24 points without missing a shot. His follow-up was even harder to ignore.

The Warriors star poured in 44 points in Minneapolis, carrying Golden State to a 119–114 victory over the Timberwolves and a second consecutive win after an 0–3 start. At 38, Curry continues to turn familiar shooting displays into fresh milestones.

This time, he drew level with LeBron James for the most 40-point performances after turning 35, with Michael Jordan behind them. Curry made eight of his 16 three-point attempts and all 16 free throws, adding eight rebounds, six assists and two steals.

Golden State still needed him to finish the job. A lead that had reached 20 points shrank in the closing minutes, giving a Minnesota team missing Anthony Edwards a chance to steal the game. Curry answered on both ends, helping the Warriors withstand the comeback.

Alongside him, rookie Yaxel Lendeborg offered an encouraging glimpse of Golden State’s future. The No. 11 pick scored 26 points and collected nine rebounds, although his seven turnovers showed there is still plenty to learn. Brandon Williams supplied another 11 points off the bench.

Jonathan Kuminga’s 20 points and 19 apiece from Jaden McDaniels and Terrence Shannon Jr. kept Minnesota in contention. But the closing moments belonged to the player whose shooting had shaped the night from the start.
