After 53 years of waiting, the New York Knicks delighted their fans a few months ago by winning the NBA championship, following a 4-1 victory in the finals against the San Antonio Spurs.
As tradition dictates, the NBA champion receives an invitation from the President to visit the White House at some point.
This should also be the case this year, given the good relationship between Donald Trump and Knicks owner James Dolan. However, there are those who hope the Knicks will not visit the President of the USA, as some NBA champions have already done in the past.
One of them is the famous filmmaker and actor Spike Lee, a New York fan, who spoke about it for “Variety”.
“He can’t force them! It’s been years since the last NBA team has gone. They’re not going. I hope they don’t go! I hope they don’t go.”
