The Golden State Warriors are withholding payments on Kristaps Porzingis’ $20 million salary, determining that he is not rendering services, according to Shams Charania and Anthony Slater.

Golden State can reportedly trade his contract before the February 11 deadline despite the withheld payments and continues to explore potential deals. The 31-year-old is said to be leaning toward ending his NBA career.

Porzingis missed the start of the season because of a health-related issue. Charania previously reported that the Latvian was experiencing recurring symptoms of postural orthostatic tachycardia syndrome (POTS) and was seriously considering his future in basketball.

His near-expiring contract could appeal to teams seeking financial flexibility. According to the report, a team acquiring Porzingis could move out salary, then pursue a buyout to save money and open a roster spot.
