Victor Wembanyama scored 29 points on just 13 shots as the San Antonio Spurs beat the Portland Trail Blazers 125–103 for their eighth straight win.
Afterward, he spoke about trusting the offense even when the ball isn’t coming his way.
“We got to trust the game plan, trust our teammates,” Wembanyama said. “It’s as simple as that, because we know we got talent.”
Wembanyama added seven rebounds and three assists in 24 minutes as San Antonio improved to 8–2. He likes where the Spurs stand through 10 games and sees room for the team to grow as players settle into different responsibilities.
“We’re in a great spot,” Wembanyama said. “Ten games in, the season goes by quick, but we’re building, everybody’s figuring out new roles.”
Asked what the eight wins had in common, Wembanyama pointed to the different kinds of games the Spurs had won and noted that they’d already faced some opponents more than once.
“We’ve been tested in a couple of ways, but there’s still many ways that remain for us, you know, to be tested in,” he said. “The season is long and there’s going to be difficulties that we can’t anticipate.”
