After spending the last six years of his career in Europe and winning all sorts of titles and individual distinctions with Real Madrid, Sergio Rodriguez decided to return to the NBA this summer, signing a contract with the Philadelphia 76ers.

As he said in an interview with Spanish Marca, he sees himself staying in the NBA for quite some time.

“My main option is to be here and play for several years more,” Rodriguez said. “I don’t know if it will be in the same situation I am now or another, but I want to be in the NBA and continue competing against the best.”

“It was a major challenge to come back here after many years in Spain. It wasn’t a question of showing my talent. I wanted to play against the best and everyone is here,”, he added.

The 30-year-old playmaker also talked Sergio Llull and Luka Doncic, his former teammates in Real Madrid, with nothing less than praise for their talent and capabilities.

“Doncic is playing at a spectacular level. Last year he didn’t play so much in the games but I was watching what he was doing inn training. He’s becoming physically bigger and stronger, he controls the game and he’s very mature for his age. He’ll have a successful career because of his athletic abilities and his mind.”

And what about Sergio Llull, who’s doing wondrous things with the “Blancos”? “He’s an NBA level player of course. But he’ll decide if he comes here or not.”
