It seems that Jacques Monclar joined the Charlotte Hornets and under recommendation by Nicolas Batum, no less. Or didn’t he?

In case you missed it, it’s April the 1st thus April’s Fools. And in French Bein Sports and the “NBA Extra” show they know how to make a fine joke. Or it wasn’t a joke. Who knows!

Remi Reverchon, the presenter of the show announced that Jacques Monclar is leaving his post in the channel as an NBA commentator to become an… assistant coach to Steven Clifford in the Charlotte Hornets from the 2017/2018 season.

And why not? Monclar, one of the most prominent personalities of French basketball both as a player and a coach, would take it to the benches once more with no other than Nicolas Batum vouching for him.

Batum himself was then asked to comment on the news. With total seriousness, the French forward admitted to have spoken with owner Michael Jordan and fighting very hard in order to convince him to bring Monclar on board.

In the end, apparently, even the mighty “Air” became excited with the outcome.
