Nikola Mirotic continues his recovery process by increasing his work volume since he’s been able to exercise more and more recently.

Per Chicago Sun Times coach Fred Hoiberg said that “Niko had a really good week of workouts. He’s continuing to ramp up his activity. He had good strength workouts and he’s increasing his workload on the floor, so we’re hoping to get him back with the team shortly.”

The Spanish forward had been out for more than a month after being punched by his teammate Bobby Portis during practice and breaking a couple of facial bones. Mirotic is still not on speaking terms with Portis but has been more social with the rest of the Bulls players.

Niko’s been in the building with our team; guys have been in there with him. He’s still working on his own as he continues along the rehab process, but things have been going well from that standpoint.”

The exact date of Mirotic’s return to Bulls‘ practices remains unknown. In addition, the former EuroLeague star isn’t really fond of being on the same squad with Portis. If Mirotic doesn’t retract he would be willing to renounce to his no-trade clause.

Mirotic still doesn’t speak to Portis, although the latter has already stated many times that he has apologized for his actions.
