When Enes Kanter heard that the Turkish government wants to put him behind bars, he just said that a four-year prison term isn’t much for all the “trash” he’s been talking.

Enes Kanter reacted with humor to the news about Turkish prosecutors seeking a four-year prison sentence for him, with charges of insulting President Recep Tayyip Erdogan.

The New York Knicks center has repeatedly criticized Erdogan on Twitter while the Turkish government has labeled him a “terrorist” for his support to exiled cleric Fethullah Gulen.

Per NY Post:

“I was like, ‘That’s it? Only four years?’ All the trash I’ve been talking?” said the 6-11 center, who was born in Switzerland and raised in Turkey, after practice Wednesday. “I’m just trying to be the voice of all of these innocent people, man. Journalists, innocent people in jail getting tortured and killed and kidnapped.”

“You cannot criticize or you cannot even say nothing bad about the dude, Erdogan. Just like say he’s a ‘bad guy’ and you’re in a prison,” Kanter said.
