DiVincenzo scored a career-high 31 points during the Villanova Wildcats’ 79-62 victory over Michigan Wolverines in the national championship game, though quickly after his sudden fame turned against him.

The player’s twitter account, which had more than 17,000 tweets and was most active when DiVincenzo was in high school, contained several tweets that used belittling remarks towards non-Caucasian and homosexual people.

After the game, Villanova’s account tweeted that DiVincenzo’s profile had been hacked and that none of the remarks made were his, though the announcement was withdrawn quickly, as some of the player’s tweets counted back to 2011.
