Luka Doncic’s obligations with Real Madrid will not allow him to travel to the United States and workout for NBA teams ahead of the NBA Draft.

Luka Doncic is getting ready for his second consecutive Turkish Airlines EuroLeague Final Four appearance that will take place in Belgrade on May 18-20.

The 19-year old-phenom has been leading Real Madrid all season long and won’t attend any workouts for NBA teams ahead of the draft due to his commitment to the “Blancos” and their postseason obligations.

As Doncic’s agent Bill Duffy told ‘Sporting News‘, this won’t affect his chances of going higher in the draft: “I don’t think that will be an issue. Playing in the Euroleague speaks for itself. What he has been able to do, it speaks to both the talent and preparedness for Luka. He has had a different level of experience than most of his peers. Euroleague is the next step to playing in the NBA.”

Even though some people could consider this move strange, it is something that was expected from the start of the season, as his Real Madrid commitment and playing for winning titles is much more important than workouts. As Duffy says: “He is committed to Real Madrid, all the way through.”

As his mother had pointed out the potential No. 1 overall pick, may also not be present at the NBA Draft due to the Spanish League (ACB) finals. His absence will be certain especially if the quarterfinal (best-of-three) and semifinal (best-of-five) series in ACB will stretch to three and five games respectively.

Either way, Luka Doncic is expected to be a top-5 pick in the 2018 NBA Draft as his level of play has made millions of fans from all over the world. Doncic finished the EuroLeague regular season by averaging 16.1 points, 4.8 rebounds and 4.4 assists per game showing his perfect all-around abilities.
